C3: Fire Code, Occupational
Safety, GHS, and Chemical Hazards

Monday, May 20th: 2:00 - 3:00 PM EDT

CM Credit Hours: 1
Education Session
Greater Columbus Convention Center
Room: A 210

Content Level

Introductory

Topics

Available as part of AIHA CONNECT OnDemand:
Chemical Hazards
Hazard Recognition/Exposure Assessment

Description

The presentation will demonstrate: a) the Fire Code classification definitions relevant to maximum allowable quantities (MAQ) and OSHA limits for chemicals; b) physical, chemical, and acute toxicity characteristics; and c) GHS hazard statements for classifications. The session will be interactive, giving the participants the opportunity to discuss and classify a wide variety chemicals and their hazards.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, the participant will be able to:
• Identify resources to use for hazard identification.
• Determine locations on at least one document for relevant hazard data.
• Demonstrate ability to critique two or more classifications.
• Develop classification meanings for at least three hazard classes.
